Can you spare a dollar? New fundraiser kicks off

Hello everyone!

It’s hard to believe July is half over! We have been busy working on our new fundraising effort to pay for the restoration of “Sunrise” by Charles Pettitt. Originally, we were raising $2,500 to cover the cost of the restoration; however, we have pushed our goal to $3,000 in case the restoration comes in a little higher than anticipated.

There was quite a bit of water damage done to the painting. This created large areas of massive paint loss and excessive paint flaking. We want to make sure when the time comes to pick up the painting, we have the money needed to pay for the restoration in full.

In order to accomplish this, we are sending out letters to local business owners to see if they can help, but we are also holding a virtual spare dollar fundraiser. Rather than go door-to-door or stand outside of a store, we are asking people to mail us a spare dollar and hit our fundraising goal by August 31. We will post weekly updates about how the fundraising efforts are going. Donations can also be made on our website through the form on our website.

We figured if 3,000 people donated $1, we will hit our fundraising goal for the restoration. We are working on a couple of events, including a murder mystery dinner and a holiday auction. Those will take place later this year. We are also applying for a couple of local grants to help us secure a trailer to use as a mobile museum, and possibly a location to hold classes and seasonal programming.

Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far! We greatly appreciate the out pouring of support we have seen as we build our art and cultural museum.

Take care,
